Aur Y Ddraig Ltd (meaning 'Dragon's Gold') is a family-run Welsh honey farm founded by Darren and his wife Sara, based near Pontarddulais on the border between Carmarthenshire and Swansea in South Wales. Darren's passion for beekeeping was first inspired by his grandfather, and after twenty-five years, he returned to the craft under the guidance of his uncle. Both Darren and Sara have completed beekeeping and honey business courses and are proud members of the WBKA, BBKA, and their local East Carmarthenshire Beekeeping Association (ECBKA). The business operates several named apiaries — Helyg, Celyn, and Eirlys — situated either side of the picturesque Llwchwr Valley. The welfare of their bee colonies is the primary focus, with production volumes never taking priority over colony health. Their premium Welsh honey is unblended, unpasteurised, and produced with minimal filtration or heating, reflecting a strong commitment to quality and provenance. The company launched at the Royal Welsh Smallholding and Countryside Festival and supplies boutique stores and specialist food retailers. They are also conservation-focused, aiming to support the reversal of the decline in UK pollinators.
