Scarletts Scotland

Scarletts (Scotland) is a family-owned business established in 1999 in the heart of Perthshire, Scotland, originally founded as a commercial beekeeping company. Based at Stripside Longleys near Meigle, Blairgowrie, they have grown to become one of the largest beekeeping companies in the UK, with around 50 million bees pollinating vast areas of soft fruit, lowland flowers, and heather across the Grampian hills. They produce two distinct Scottish honeys: Scottish Blossom honey, made from April to mid-July as bees forage on diverse lowland flowers, trees and hedges; and Scottish Heather honey, produced from mid-July to end of August when hives are moved into the glens amongst unspoilt heather moors. Their heather honey is darker, thicker and has a strong fudge or toffee-like flavour. None of their honeys are pasteurised and they are filtered only to organic standard to retain natural pollen, enzymes and proteins. In 2010, Scarletts became a BRC and Organic accredited honey packer, and now pack honeys from around the world for multiple companies. That same year, owner Andrew Scarlett received a Nuffield Farming Scholarship — the first ever awarded for beekeeping. Their honey is available at Perth Farmers Market on the first Saturday of every month.
