About Us

Wainwright's Honey is a beekeeping operation based in Aberystwyth, Wales, known for producing high-quality Welsh honey. Their bees begin the season at the Wainwright's bee farm in Aberystwyth, where Queen bees are carefully bred at the start of spring. The colonies are then transported to Bala, in the Welsh heather hills and lowlands of Merionethshire, where the bees forage to produce a distinctive heather honey. The operation gained significant recognition when Marks & Spencer selected their product for a new line: 'Welsh Crunchy Heather Honey', described as M&S's first honey with crunchy crystals, featuring a distinct amber colour and unique taste. The product launched exclusively in Wales in 2022 and proved a bestseller. Hazel Gould is a beekeeper at Wainwright's who specialises in Queen breeding, overseeing the creation of nucleus colonies to build new hives each season. The process involves careful management of colonies through winter and into spring, reflecting a traditional and considered approach to beekeeping across the Welsh landscape.
